how does it look so far?

  1. I feel a great disturbance, one that I haven't felt since... Ok on to topic it gives me an open otherworldly view. It reminds me of trying to get into the cosmos or man's first dream of space travel. The space background is well done, especially around the galaxy shaped object. The faded V for Vendetta mask really adds a mysterious quality to it. I also like how the lower objects are straight and the galaxy is crooked creating a great contrast. Is Poseidon acting as a cosmic space god in this and how did you make the galaxy object?

The mask on the mask seems a little jagged on the left side, so that could be cleaned up a little. The same could be said for Poseidon's staff. The pipe seems a little out of place zoomed in, but it does not hold back from anything. My eyes are first drawn to the statue then move to the galaxy shape, and finally to the mask.

Other than those that I can see it looks great so far, you have real direction going for this piece. I can't wait to see how this looks when it is finished.

  2. The black background makes the composition seem dreamlike, or maybe performative, as though the objects are on stage. It appears as though the objects in the foreground are floating in "space" literally and figuratively. The man and the turtle in the foreground are the main compositional focus...they catch my eye first and lead my eye into the background area. THe man's gesture makes him look powerful, yet he is smoking a corn cob pipe, which simultaneously makes him seem ridiculous, or causes me to take him less seriously. The figure in the front looks outward, off the composition as though there is something else implied beyond the frame. The mask is transparent, as though it is an afterthought or a less important aspect of the image. The mask reminds me of the Occupy Wall street movement, although I am unsure if that is the significance. The relationship between the figures is mysterious, and causes the image to seem surreal. Technically, things are coming along....just continue to clean up your selections around the foreground figure...
